Dawn Aston

“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!”
― Goethe

Dawn Aston is from N.Ireland and lives on the County Antrim coast. She is a qualified artist with a BA Hons. Degree in Fine Art/painting who also now specialises in mosaics.   She has 5 awards for her show gardens at the Bloom garden festival in Dublin where she designed and built the gardens as vehicles in which to showcase her painting and mosaic artwork.

Dawn is also experienced in the community arts in N.Ireland as part of the ongoing peace process working with people of all ages, abilities and background. She is committed to promoting the art of mosaic making through her own art practice, education, show gardens and exhibitions.

Her recent solo exhibition Opus at the Island Arts Centre in Lisburn, was well received and introduced mosaics to a new audience.

Nature inspires Dawn’s mosaics and her latest work focuses on the geometric designs in nature such as the logarithmic spiral pattern that is evident in shells, plant growth, hurricanes and galaxies.

Dawn is looking forward to creating new work that is experimental in techniques, materials and in the creation of her own ceramic tiles to include in the mosaic compositions. Portraiture will also feature more in future work.

"I love the process of mosaic making, along with the richness and diversity of materials, that enables an exploitation of light and creation of vibrant images. Whilst mosaics are beautiful additions to interior spaces, they are also perfect partners with designed landscapes and natural settings.

I am available for commissions locally in N. Ireland and abroad.

Original artworks and prints are available from Saatchi online.

Dawn is a professional member of BAMM, Visual Arts Ireland, Air-AN, AIMC, and is an ambassador and Creative Pathways Artist for Play Resource, Belfast.

Dawn has regularly exhibited with the Purple Raven Art Gallery, Delvin, Westmeath since 2010.
